Is gynogenetic reproduction in gibel carp (Carassius gibelio) a major trait responsible for invasiveness?

چکیده

The invasion success of gibel carp (Carassius gibelio) depends on demographic and competitive traits. major biological trait responsible for the invasiveness C. gibelio is mode reproduction. Apart from sexual reproduction, which typical in fish, a unique cyprinid species able to reproduce through asexual gynogenesis, also known as sperm-dependent parthenogenesis, observed all-female populations. Though forms co-exist widely natural habitats, gynogenetic form has capacity modulate range effective ecological niches, may facilitate process invasion. In this paper, we reviewed current knowledge along with their physiological advantages, immunological traits, ability withstand different environmental conditions. As parasitic infection directly alter immunology hosts, indirectly investment provide some insights into role parasites one potential drivers facilitating coexistence forms. We highlight evidence that have been identified serious threat native species; hence, its impact ecosystem discussed.

Characterization of Virulence Properties of Aeromonas veronii Isolated from Diseased Gibel Carp (Carassius gibelio)

Aeromonas veronii is a kind of opportunistic pathogen to fish and humans, significantly impending aquaculture production. Recently, we isolated two A. veronii strains, named GYC1 and GYC2, from diseased Gibel carp (Carassius gibelio) in China. Based on gyrB (DNA gyrase B subunit) genes of GYC1 and GYC2, the constructed phylogenetic tree showed that the two strains were clustered with A. veronii...

A Loop-Mediated Isothermal Amplification Assay for Rapid Detection of Cyprinid Herpesvirus 2 in Gibel Carp (Carassius auratus gibelio)

A rapid and sensitive loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) assay for Cyprinid herpesvirus 2 (CyHV-2) detection in gibel carp was developed. Following cloning and sequencing of the putative DNA helicase gene of CyHV-2 isolate from China, a set of four specific primers was designed based on the sequence. The MgCl2 concentration and the reaction temperature were optimized to 6 mM, 64°C, r...

Development of a multiplex PCR method for the simultaneous detection of four myxosporeans infecting gibel carp Carassius auratus gibelio.

Gibel carp Carassius auratus gibelio (Bloch), a commercially important freshwater-cultured fish in China, is threatened by myxosporeans, particularly Thelohanellus wuhanensis, Myxobolus honghuensis, M. wulii and M. turpisrotundus. Here, we developed a multiplex PCR assay for simultaneous detection of these 4 myxosporeans. The specific primers for each species were designed based on the 28S rDNA...

Myxobolus oralis sp. n. (Myxosporea: Bivalvulida) infecting the palate in the mouth of gibel carp Carassius auratus gibelio (Cypriniformes: Cyprinidae).

During a survey on the myxosporean fauna of gibel carp Carassius auratus gibelio (Bloch) in China, a species of Myxobolus Bütschli, 1882 that did not conform to any known species was found. The species is characterised by the presence of round to ellipsoidal plasmodia of 2.6-4.0 mm in diameter in the palate of host. Mature spores are obovate in frontal view and lemon-shaped in lateral view, wit...

Evolutionary conservation of Dazl genomic organization and its continuous and dynamic distribution throughout germline development in gynogenetic gibel carp.

To investigate germline development and germ cell specification, we identified a Dazl homolog (CagDazl) from gynogenetic gibel carp (Carassius auratus gibelio). Its cDNA sequence and BAC clone sequence analyses revealed the genomic organization conservation and conserved synteny of the Dazl family members and their neighborhood genes among vertebrates, especially in fish. Moreover, a polyclonal...
